Three Lives Of King Bharata, #3

From countless lives in the material world, Maharaj Bharata in these three lives attained the perfection of life and left the material universe, never to return.

In his third birth he again retained his memory of his previous births and was determined to make this birth his last.

The steps he took to assure his success are as follows.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 5.9.1-2    Srila Sukadeva Gosvami continued: My dear King, after giving up the body of a deer, Bharata Maharaja took birth in a very pure brahmana family. There was a brahmana who belonged to the dynasty of Angira. He was fully qualified with brahminical qualifications. He could control his mind and senses, and he had studied the Vedic literatures and other subsidiary literatures. He was expert in giving charity, and he was always satisfied, tolerant, very gentle, learned, and non-envious. He was self-realized and engaged in the devotional service of the Lord. He remained always in a trance. He had nine equally qualified sons by his first wife, and by his second wife he begot twins-a brother and a sister, of which the male child was said to be the topmost devotee and foremost of saintly kings-Bharata Maharaja. This, then, is the story of the birth he took after giving up the body of a deer.

Due to his being especially gifted with the Lord's mercy, Bharata Maharaja could remember the incidents of his past life. Although he received the body of a brahmana, he was still very much afraid of his relatives and friends who were not devotees. He was always very cautious of such association because he feared that he would again fall down. Consequently he manifested himself before the public eye as a madman -dull, blind, and deaf -so that others would not try to talk to him. In this way he saved himself from bad association. Within he was always thinking of the lotus feet of the Lord and chanting the Lord's glories, which save one from the bondage of fruitive action. In this way he saved himself from the onslaught of non-devotee associates.

Jada Bharata’s father was very attached to him and desired to educate him fully but Jada Bharata continued to act like a dull person although he was the most intelligent person in the world. The father died and Jada Bharata kept his body in a degraded condition as a man-animal.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 5.9.9-10   Whatever food he could acquire by begging or by wages, and whatever came of its own accord-be it a small quantity, palatable, stale or tasteless-he would accept and eat. He never ate anything for sense gratification because he was already liberated from the bodily conception, which induces one to accept palatable or unpalatable food. He was full in the transcendental consciousness of devotional service, and therefore he was unaffected by the dualities arising from the bodily conception. Actually his body was as strong as a bull's, and his limbs were very muscular. He didn't care for winter or summer, wind or rain, and he never covered his body at any time. He lay on the ground, and never smeared oil on his body or took a bath. Because his body was dirty, his spiritual effulgence and knowledge were covered, just as the splendor of a valuable gem is covered by dirt. He only wore a dirty loincloth and his sacred thread, which was blackish. Understanding that he was born in a brahmana family, people would call him a brahma bandhu and other names. Being thus insulted and neglected by materialistic people, he wandered here and there.

While wandering Jada Bharata enlightened King Rahugana by his perfect instructions even though he appeared as a deaf and dumb madman.

Srimad-Bhagavatam Pg. 333   Jada Bharata was successfully accepted by King Rahugana, ruler of the states known as Sindhu and Sauvira. The King forced Jada Bharata to carry his palanquin and chastised him because he did not carry it properly. A carrier of King Rahugana's palanquin was needed, and to fulfill this need the chief carriers found Jada Bharata as the most likely person to do the work. He was therefore forced to carry the palanquin. Jada Bharata, however, did not protest this proud order, but humbly accepted the job and carried the palanquin. While carrying it, however, he was very careful to see that he did not step on an ant, and whenever he saw one, he would stop until the ant had passed. Because of this, he could not keep pace with the other carriers. The King within the palanquin became very disturbed and chastised Jada Bharata with filthy language, but Jada Bharata, being completely freed from the bodily conception, did not protest; he proceeded carrying the palanquin. When he continued as before, the King threatened him with punishment, and being threatened by the King, Jada Bharata began to talk. He protested against the filthy language used by the King when the King chastised him, and the King, hearing the instructions of Jada Bharata, was awakened to his real knowledge. When he came to his consciousness, he understood that he had offended a great, learned, and saintly person. At that time he very humbly and respectfully prayed to Jada Bharata. He now wanted to understand the deep meaning of the philosophical words used by Jada Bharata, and with great sincerity, he begged his pardon. He admitted that if one offends the lotus feet of a pure devotee, he is certainly punished by the trident of Lord Siva.

Thus, Jada Bharata, the greatest saintly person, exposed his true nature in order to enlighten King Rahugana.

When the time arrived, Jada Bharata left his body and returned to his eternal home in the spiritual world.

Everyone can achieve the same result by simply hearing and repeating transcendental sound vibration received from a great transcendentalist like Jada Bharata.

De innumerables vidas en el mundo material, Maharaj Bharata en estas tres vidas alcanzó la perfección de la vida y dejó el universo material, para no volver jamás.

En su tercer nacimiento, volvió a conservar la memoria de sus nacimientos anteriores y estaba decidido a hacer de este su último nacimiento.

Los pasos que tomó para asegurar su éxito son los siguientes.

Aunque recibió el cuerpo de un brahmana, todavía tenía mucho miedo de sus parientes y amigos que no eran devotos. Siempre fue muy cauteloso con tal asociación porque temía que se volviera a caer. En consecuencia, se manifestó ante la opinión pública como un loco -tonto, ciego y sordo- para que los demás no trataran de hablarle. De esta manera se salvó de malas compañías. En su interior siempre estaba pensando en los pies de loto del Señor y cantando las glorias del Señor, que nos salvan a uno de la esclavitud de la acción fruitiva. De esta manera se salvó de la embestida de los asociados no devotos.

El padre de Jada Bharata estaba muy apegado a él y deseaba educarlo completamente, pero Jada Bharata siguió actuando como una persona tonta a pesar de que era la persona más inteligente del mundo. El padre murió y Jada Bharata mantuvo su cuerpo en una condición degradada como la de un hombre-animal.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 5.9.9-10   Cualquier alimento que pudiera adquirir mendigando o pagando, y cualquier cosa que viniera por sí sola, ya sea una pequeña cantidad, apetitosa, rancia o insípida, la aceptaba y la comía. Nunca comió nada para complacer los sentidos porque ya estaba liberado de la concepción corporal, lo que induce a uno a aceptar comida apetecible o desagradable. Estaba pleno en la conciencia trascendental del servicio devocional y, por lo tanto, no se vio afectado por las dualidades que surgen de la concepción corporal. En realidad, su cuerpo era tan fuerte como el de un toro, y sus miembros eran muy musculosos. No le importaba el invierno o el verano, el viento o la lluvia, y nunca cubrió su cuerpo en ningún momento. Yacía en el suelo y nunca se untaba aceite en el cuerpo ni se bañaba. Debido a que su cuerpo estaba sucio, su refulgencia espiritual y su conocimiento estaban cubiertos, así como el esplendor de una gema valiosa está cubierto por la suciedad. Sólo vestía un taparrabos sucio y su hilo sagrado, que era negruzco. Entendiendo que nació en una familia brahmana, la gente lo llamaría brahma bandhu y otros nombres. Siendo así insultado y descuidado por la gente materialista, vagó de aquí para allá.

Mientras deambulaba, Jada Bharata iluminó al rey Rahugana con sus instrucciones perfectas, aunque parecía un loco sordo y mudo.

Srimad-Bhagavatam pág. 333 Jada Bharata fue aceptado con éxito por el rey Rahugana, gobernante de los estados conocidos como Sindhu y Sauvira. Cuando recobró la conciencia, comprendió que había ofendido a una persona grande, sabia y santa. En ese momento oró humilde y respetuosamente a Jada Bharata. Ahora quería comprender el significado profundo de las palabras filosóficas utilizadas por Jada Bharata y, con gran sinceridad, le pidió perdón. Admitió que si alguien ofende los pies de loto de un devoto puro, ciertamente es castigado por el tridente del Señor Siva.

Así, Jada Bharata, la persona santa más grande, expuso su verdadera naturaleza para iluminar al Rey Rahugana.

Cuando llegó el momento, Jada Bharata dejó su cuerpo y regresó a su hogar eterno en el mundo espiritual.

Todos pueden lograr el mismo resultado simplemente escuchando y repitiendo la vibración de sonido trascendental recibida de un gran trascendentalista como Jada Bharata.
